The Joy of Creating

September 14, 2026 — The Joy of Creating

There is something wonderfully uncomplicated about watching a child color.

A box of crayons. A blank page. An idea.

That is often all it takes.

Children rarely worry about whether the colors match perfectly or whether anyone else will approve of what they have made. A purple sun, a blue tree, a green dog—why not?

They create because creating feels good.

Today is both National Coloring Day and National Live Creative Day, which seems like a perfect reason to celebrate one of the most remarkable qualities we all share:

Creativity.

It belongs to all of us.

We sometimes grow up believing creativity is reserved for artists, musicians, writers, or people who make things professionally. But creativity appears in countless ordinary places.

It is in the meal you invent from what is left in the refrigerator.

The flowers you arrange on a table.

The colors you choose for a room.

The garden you plant.

The photograph you take because the light was beautiful.

The handmade gift.

The clever solution to a problem.

And yes, it is still there in the simple pleasure of sitting down with colored pencils and filling an empty page.

There is value in creating something simply because we enjoy doing it.

Activities like coloring can give our busy minds something gentle to focus on, helping us relax, step away from everyday worries, and become absorbed in the moment. Creativity gives us room to experiment without needing every effort to accomplish something practical.

Perhaps that is one reason it can feel so satisfying.

For a little while, there is no right answer.

Only possibility.

At Zephyr Faith Crafts, creativity is part of every day. We know the excitement of beginning with an idea and watching it slowly become something we can see, hold, share, and enjoy.

But creativity does not have to become a finished product to be worthwhile.

Sometimes the process itself is the reward.

So today, we hope you make a little room for that wonderfully creative part of yourself.

Pick up a pencil.

Try a new recipe.

Move the furniture around.

Take a photograph.

Plant something.

Write something.

Color outside the lines.

Whatever you choose, let yourself enjoy making something without worrying whether it is perfect.

This September 14, we hope a little of that childhood creative joy finds its way back into your day—the simple happiness of choosing a color, making something your own, and seeing where your imagination takes you.
